While endometriosis is known for causing severe pelvic pain, the pain can also radiate to your hips and legs.
But did you know that lying on the floor can help reduce that pain and inflammation, all while making you feel less overwhelmed?
Designated "floor time" also known as grounding has become a bit of a trend on TikTok, but it's something I swear by as this technique helps you connect with the present moment while tuning out distressing thoughts.
When you lie on the floor, you're doing "a yoga pose, called savasana, which translates to corpse pose," Nicole Wood, a master trainer at YogaSix, told Business Insider. "People have been doing this pose for thousands of years, and in every yoga class, a corpse pose is the last pose one does."
Whether you practice yoga or not, making the corpse pose part of your daily routine can be beneficial. Â
Research shows that grounding can reduce inflammation, pain, and stress, which may improve sleep and blood flow. You can even take it a step further by lying on your back with your legs elevated. This is my preferred method and one of the simplest and most effective ways to stimulate your lymphatic system, reduce blood pressure and alleviate stress.
It's also worth noting that a little fresh air and grounding your bare feet to the physical earth can work wonders. My nephew's nanny calls it "earth time" and uses this as a healthy and effective way to distract and self-soothe when he's feeling overwhelmed.Â
Have you tried grounding?!
