Period Blood For Your Plants

This is not the first time or the last that I will mention my love for The Period Company.  They house the best affordable period underwear, menstrual underwear, absorbent underwear (you get the gist!) for those of us that not only want to live a more sustainable lifestyle, but who also may not be big fans of sticking a piece of cotton inside of us on the reg.  

According to The Period Company's mission statement, a man invented the tampon in 1931.  They go on to mention that nurses initially invented it before, but the man was the one who patented and sold the idea.  Typical.  

My main grievance with the tampon is how much damage it causes to the Earth.  Did you know most will outlive all of us in landfills and the oceans?  Not okay.  The Period Company's products are not only kind to the user, but also to the Planet.  One of my favorite things I've learned from this company is that a little period blood with water makes amazing plant fertilizer.  My plants have never been happier.  

The Period Company recently sent out an email regarding tampon testing and my mind is blown. 

Lastly, if you are in the area, Cabaret Identitease will be hosting a charity burlesque show on November 2nd (details here!).  Their first show raised funds for Endometriosis UK with some of the cast even being endo warriors themselves!
